Hear the autobiographical story from the author/illustrator/protagonist’s mouth while enjoying hands-on art, cultural diversity and soccer activities with an experienced, certified teacher. Engage your students’ curiosity and expand their knowledge with an author/illustrator cultural Q & A session. Paisley has over 15 years experience teaching family programs at children’s museums, galleries and schools across America.

Midnight Lunch at the Princess’ Palace

Picture Book

An American child and a Middle Eastern princess connect through Art.

PreK-grade 3 students will dramatically reenact the picture book story using an authentic camel saddle and cultural clothing from a real Arab king. Sensory artists will love building Middle Eastern Mudcastles and Desert Doors just like the princess in Paisley’s Arabian Architecture class. The class is designed to help increase students’ cultural sensitivity and their understanding and inclusion of children with disabilities.

The Sideliners Strike Back!

Middle Grade Novel

An international middle school soccer team comes together after a terrorist attack.

Students age 12-14 will kickoff with a ‘Sideliners’ Invincible Diversity workshop designed to help teens drop kick ableist/cultural stereotypes and work toward finding a healthy outlet to process trauma. Paisley will share photos from her own middle school community at the time of Al Qaeda’s first attack on Americans and provide a safe space for youth to ask questions and share their feelings and fears about terrorism. Using examples from ‘Sideliners’ kids at Al Qaeda’s kick off, we will brainstorm strategies tweens can use to combat the divisive effects of terrorism in real life.
